Newcastle College serves around 18,000 learners every year and, as well as their main facility in the heart of the city, also has nine satellite sites and four community outreach venues across the North East.
The College has over 100 full-time vocational courses on offer to those aged 16-18 and more than 300 part-time, evening, daytime and evening courses available to anyone looking to learn something new.
For those wanting to go into higher education, Newcastle College is also the largest provider of higher education in the further education sector and one of the only colleges in the UK with the ability to validate their its foundation degrees.
In 2015, Newcastle College was named FE College of the Year at the ‘Educate North Awards’, sponsored by the Telegraph and was awarded the Student Experience Award in 2016. The College also boasts Beacon College status as well as holding a Matrix award.
The Newcastle College Rail Academy has had fantastic success since opening in September 2014. It demonstrates how the College is helping to not only fill the skills gap in the North East, but also work directly with businesses to ensure that the students have a direct route into industry.
“Facilities like the Rail Academy are a great example of education and industry working together to create a national hub for training and skills.”
– George Osborne, former Chancellor of the Exchequer.
