NCG has developed an Education Recovery Plan to support students across all of its colleges in September 2021.

The document is a statement of intent to ensure new and existing learners across the Group are fully supported to quickly transition to their programme or course of study at the beginning of the new academic year.

It follows the publication of a survey by the AoC in April 2021 that outlines some of the challenges likely to be faced by returning learners, due to the very different delivery of teaching and training that they will have experienced during the COVID pandemic.

Whilst many may have found the move to remote learning a smooth process, many others have found it a challenge and the lack of face-to-face support has resulted in fewer opportunities for those in practical subjects to practise their skills. With the additional pressures of lockdown impacting on careers and jobs, family finances and physical and mental health, NCG want to take additional steps to ensure support is provided to learners and staff in and out of the classroom.

The Education Recovery Plan includes actions to return to face-to-face learning for the majority of its learners, as well as the expansion of mental health and wellbeing support, and introducing flexible, online delivery for adults returning to upskill or retrain.
