We are proud to announce that two of our painter and decorator apprentices have become the first in the county to complete the new apprenticeship.

Nick Graham and Max Tate, who both started on the level two painter and decorator apprenticeship in September 2019, have now completed the course and gained distinctions.

Both Nick, who is employed by Story Decorating Group, in Carlisle, and Max, who is employed by Sissons Decorators, Penrith, were ready to sit their end point assessment six months ahead of schedule and passed with distinctions in all three aspects.

Painting and decorating training advisor, Dan Smith said: “Nick and Max demonstrated a will to succeed, learn new skills and develop their knowledge throughout their time at Carlisle College.

“We ensured the training they received in college covered all aspects of their apprenticeship to guarantee they were fully prepared to succeed at end point assessment. Both have worked tremendously hard and we are immensely proud of their achievements.”

Owner of Sissons Decorators, Ade Sisson said: “We are delighted with Max’s success over the last year. He has shown great application to achieve this success in his exams and continues to go from strength to strength at work. He has had great help and training from Carlisle College, and his success would not have been possible without their guidance.”

Story Decorating Group Contracts Manager, Adam Lee said: “It has been a pleasure to see Nick working through his apprenticeship. We have been fortunate to have many local projects, enabling us to stay connected with Nick, visit him on sites and see how he has developed in his trade but also in his communication skills and his confidence. Nick has worked hard, and we are extremely proud to keep him as an important part of the team at Story Decorating Group.”
