Congratulations to Carlisle College Plastering Apprentice Jake Waite who was named Plastering Apprentice of the Year at the 2025 Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) Training Awards.

On 25 November 2025 Carlisle College Apprentice Jake received the JG Robinson Trophy for his exceptional achievements as a plastering apprentice.

The judges highlighted Jake’s aspirational attitude, competitive spirit and high-level practical skills, recognising him as a model apprentice whose consistent performance on-site and in college sets him apart.

Jake’s journey with NCG began at Carlisle College, where he started as a Level 1 student. Demonstrating impressive skill and commitment, he progressed to a Level 2 apprenticeship with Wannop Ltd. His exceptional track record includes:

  • First place at NCG Skills
  • Third place in the SkillBuild regional heats
  • British Gypsum Apprentice of the Year 2024
