NCG has been named as a finalist in Digital Futures category of the 2026 UK and Ireland Green Gown Awards.
This shortlisting recognises NCG’s work to combine digital skills, sustainability and outdoor learning across its college group. The category celebrates the role of digital transformation across education, research and skills, including projects that improve the student experience, campus environment, and teaching and learning.
The nomination showcases a collaborative project delivered across NCG colleges, which saw students from Carlisle College, Lewisham College, Newcastle College, and Southwark College take part in an activity in collaboration with the National Education Nature Park.
Liam Carr, Sustainability in Curriculum Coordinator at NCG, said: “Being shortlisted for a Green Gown Award is fantastic recognition for the work taking place across our colleges to bring sustainability and digital skills together to inform actions that will improve the climate resilience of our campuses.
“This project has given learners the opportunity to use technology in a real-world context, helping them better understand biodiversity, the environment and the role they can play in creating more sustainable campuses and communities.
“It is also a brilliant example of collaboration with external partners from the RHS, National Education Nature Park and NCG colleges sharing learning, ideas and practice to support our wider sustainability ambitions.”
The Green Gown Awards celebrate sustainability excellence in education and recognise institutions that are creating positive environmental and social impact.
Winners will be announced at the UK and Ireland Green Gown Awards ceremony on Monday 16 November 2026.
